On September 27, the first 80-meter prefabricated box girder of the Hangzhou Bay Cross-Sea Railway Bridge was successfully erected, marking the full entry into the girder erection phase of the world's longest high-speed sea-crossing railway bridge. This "world's most powerful beam," measuring 78.2 meters long and weighing 2,800 tons – equivalent to the weight of over 2,000 cars – was erected in the strong tidal conditions of the bay, creating a new level of difficulty in its installation.

The "Tianyi" crane vessel, which undertook this important mission, has a maximum lifting capacity of 3,600 tons and is capable of independently removing, transporting, and erecting beams. The core safety device that ensures the precise operation of this giant vessel is the WTAU's load moment indicator system.

Hangzhou Bay, one of the world's three strongest tidal bays, boasts a maximum tidal range of 8.96 meters and approximately 180 days of winds exceeding force 6 annually, presenting a severe challenge to lifting operations.

For a super-tall vessel like the Tianyi, the torque limiting system is not just an add-on, but an essential core safeguard. It provides the following benefits:

1. Safety barrier: This system monitors parameters such as weight, angle, and wind speed in real time to prevent major accidents such as boom breakage and vessel capsizing due to overloading. This is crucial to the Tianyi's successful zero-accident installation of 982 heavy beams since its commissioning.

2. Improved operational efficiency: The system automatically assesses and issues warnings, freeing operators to focus on operations within safe thresholds without distracting them from potential safety hazards. Furthermore, data transparency enables remote real-time monitoring, effectively improving operational coordination and increasing the efficiency of 2,800-ton box girder installation by 30%.

3. Reduced operation and maintenance costs: This system reduces the risk of fatigue damage to core components such as wire ropes and hydraulic systems, extending their replacement cycles. The black box recording function provides data support for predictive maintenance of the equipment, effectively reducing the frequency of unplanned downtime and thus lowering operation and maintenance costs.

From the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge to the Hangzhou Bay Railway Bridge, the operational footprint of the "Tianyi" demonstrates the technological strength of the WTAU's loaad moment indicator system, which can replace foreign brands. Currently, this system has been widely adapted for a number of heavyweight equipment, including the "Daqiao Tianyi" (3,600-ton class), the "Daqiao Haiou" (3,600-ton class), the "Haiwei 951" piling vessel, the "Daqiao Haiyu" (1,000-ton class), and the "Daqiao Haihong," becoming a preferred technical solution for offshore wind power and cross-sea bridge construction.
